VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO SEW BLANKETS FOR COLD KIDS

Yolande from Mount Albert

Gathering all willing workers. It's a great project, with lovely people turning up each week, come along.

We (still) need help creating blankets to keep children warm this winter. The children are a group of approx 250 from the Sandringham/Mt Roskil area, our locals! Who could do with a helping hand.

BLANKETS
Hand stitching together two layers of fabric, attaching a Felt animal cut out. Stamping cards, cutting fabric, sitting talking with a beautiful group of people. Setting up and tidying away our equipment.

WHO.
We are a group of about 9 people so far but as winter sets in, we really need to double our numbers. All ages and ethnicity.

HOW.
Hand stitching, no machines, no experience needed. Easy for anyone willing to try. All fabrics have been donated so far.

WHEN.
Every Thursday night. 6.30 to 8.30pm ( turn up at any time in that slot for as long as you can manage, any time you offer is appreciated)

WHERE.
YMCA Mt Albert. 773 New North Road.

WHY.
For two reasons.
First, to make life a little easier for theses kids by making them something they need.
Secondly, to bring community together, increasing our sense of belonging and imbuing these blankets with our love and care.

SEE YOU THERE, no need to make contact...just turn up ❤️

Lest we forget...

On this ANZAC Day, let's take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

Tell us who are you honouring today. Whether it's a story from the battlefield or a memory of a family member who fought in the war, we'd love you to share your stories below.
