Auckland ready for New Year’s Eve

Auckland’s landmarks will be the stars of the New Year’s Eve show again this year, with the Sky Tower and Vector Lights on the Harbour Bridge set to bring in the new year with spectacular shows coordinated with Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland Museum and Te Ara I Whiti The Light Path.

Police say they are disappointed by the high number of drink drivers they have nabbed around Auckland.

Officers handed out 1100 infringement notices and arrested 78 drivers this month.

They carried out more than 70 checkpoints and breath tested nearly 14,000 people.
