Employment Issues

Ronald from Massey

One of the main issues facing SME's today is the correct perfomance management of employees. Get it wrong and you could pay dearly. I just worked with a client who relied on using the 90 day clause to get rid of some one. Unfortunately for him he hadn't given it the due diligence it needed, hadn't explained it fully, didn't take the advice offered. He was confident he was ok. The matter went to mediation, the worker who had only been employed 6 days before dismissal was awarded $6000 plus contribution to costs. A lesson learned but an expensive one that could have been avoided.

Suspicious Guy

Jan from Te Atatu South

Keep an eye on this guy, pretended to read the water meter, then wandered up the drive crowbar in hand when I asked what he wanted he said power and is there a dog.We have smart meters. He opened my neighbours gate (we are 3 units) and went in the back of her place with his crowbar. My son went round there and he took off. Police informed.
