Poll: What are you handing out for Halloween this year? - Reply
Hi everyone, as a firm christian in my beliefs, I believe Halloween is not a NZ thing. We have some how copied a American tradition and somehow as been cooperated in our country. I know some people may get offended about this subject but something has to be said about it. I am not going to apologies because of my comments.
Look, some will think it is OK to free lollies once a year from peoples homes, but you did some research on Halloween itself on the internet, you will find it represents a more evil thing. This is why we see people dressing up in costumes like vampires, etc. What is this telling us about Halloween? That it's OK to celebrate evil and free lollies? NO! It is not.
We as a country should stamp out Halloween and call it Angel Day or something more appropriate. Or just get rid of the whole Halloween Day. This is just I am coming from. Halloween is evil and should not be celebrated. Leave this tradition to America and left stayed in America thank you, no offense to anyone who has come from the states.
Lets have this Day be called NZ Day where we called everything in our country NZ or Kiwiana.
Matt

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
