Current Main Gallery Exhibition - John Horner

The Team from Depot Artspace

Our current exhibition in the main gallery is "John Horner - Plein Air & More" showcasing John’s recent paintings done in ‘Plein Air’ (French for open air) outdoors throughout his recent local travels.

The expressionist colours and paint strokes of John’s works beautifully capture moments such as the setting sun over suburban landscapes or the beauty of nature in all its changing elements.

John was a student of Owen R. Lee, Garth Tapper, Colin McCahon and Robert Ellis and also taught at Whitecliffe for 30 years as a senior lecturer.

Exhibition ends on 4th Nov. John will be onsite with live demos every Sunday 11-3 as well as a special free John Horner - Plein Air Outdoor Painting Demo on Wed 28th Oct.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
