What are your thoughts on Auckland's outdoor smoking ban?

Georgia Reporter from Stuff

Hi neighbours,

Do you know which outdoor spaces in Auckland are becoming smokefree? Click here to read an explainer on the smoking ban.

The Auckland Council announced on October 19 it was banning smoking at more than 800 cafes, restaurants and bars that use its licensed areas for al fresco dining and drinking. The ban would come into effect as owners renew their licences. By December 31, 2019, all eateries with outdoor dining areas will have the rule in place.

Under the new policy, smoking is also banned at parks, beaches, reserves and other council-owned properties.

So what are your thoughts on the ban? How will it affect you or your business? Let us know your thoughts in the replies below!

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
