LUMINOUS VESSELS - AN INTRODUCTION TO GLASS CASTING IN 3D OR 2D

800 Degrees is proud to be able to offer workshops at our premises based in Greenlane, Auckland.
The workshop will present the making of a vessel. Vessels will be made using the lost wax method. In this workshop, you will learn about the art of basic lost wax casting techniques wax templates prepared for you ready for your imbuing your design; carving into wax or making positive textures on wax. You will learn about moulds and investing your wax model and steaming out and selecting the glass to fill your reservoir ready for firing.


The workshop runs one full weekend, with the following Saturday being a half-day class (so 2.5 days).



Course participants will learn about the lost wax processes of cast glass using lead crystal glass, which is supplied within the course fees up to 1kg of lead crystal to use. PLEASE NOTE: This is a vessel making workshop, which is the objective within this workshop timeframe.
