This year's BNZ Auckland Lantern Festival is once again taking place in the heart of Manukau at the Manukau Sports Bowl.

The team from Manukau: Heart of the South will be helping you get to the festival safely. The team will be decked out in their pink hi-vis under the gazebo outside NZMA Manukau on the corners of Cavendish, Great South Roads and Te Irirangi Drive from 5pm each night of the Lantern Festival - 13th - 16th February. They will also be walking the streets of Manukau.

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
