Cat hit by car
Hi everyone, I was driving home today from the supermarket around 1.30pm I saw a cat lying on busy Remuera Road (over from Kadimah School). I quickly turned around and went to check on it and it appeared it had just been hit. Another lady pulled over and said she'd seen a car hit the cat but then left. Cats run across roads, and no one is at fault, but PLEASE, if you hit an animal, or see an injured animal, stop to check on it and help if it is still alive. If it is not alive, please move it to a berm or footpath in the hope the owners can find it. This cat was injured and bleeding but still alive (just). Between a few of us we got the cat to a nearby vet but sadly I got the call half an later to say 'Dixie' had died. At least she didn't die on a busy noisy road, or worse, get hit again and again. I know it's difficult to witness but every minute counts when an animal has been injured. Thank you for being aware and kind.
