The Shore Action team has led the Kaipātiki Local Board for the last 3 years and has made huge progress for our area.
This election we are standing a strong team of 6 candidates prepared to take action to deliver for our local communities:
Adrian Tyler, Anne-Elise Smithson, Danielle Grant, John Gillon, Melanie Kenrick, Paula Gillon.
Our Action Plan:
ACTION ON TRANSPORT:
- Continue to hold Auckland Transport to account
- Action on Onewa Road! Mon-Sat daytime clearway (city-bound); restore 9am T3 finish time; shared cycling/pedestrian path (city-bound)
- Rebuild Northcote Wharf; Improve ferry services and bus connections
- Support Harbour Bridge walking/cycling link and Seapath
- Shared cycling/pedestrian loop connecting Birkenhead-Beach Haven-Glenfield
- Safe school streets
ACTION ON PARKS & ENVIRONMENT:
- Protect and enhance our environment
- Increase pest-free initiatives and protect our precious kauri from dieback disease
- Continue our massive programme of bush track upgrades and create new kauri-free routes, including the Beach Haven Coastal Connection (Tui Park - Shepherds Park - Hellyers Creek Reserve)
- Clean streams, ponds and beaches
- Action on Little Shoal Bay flooding
- No park sales!
ACTION ON PLAY
- Continue upgrading our tired playgrounds and basketball courts
- More shadesails over playgrounds
- Upgrade our sports facilities and leisure centres
- New splashpad, toddler destination playground and Māra Hūpara traditional Māori play
ACTION IN OUR COMMUNITY
- Vibrant and safer town centres
- Support for our sports clubs, volunteers, cultural groups and community houses
- Support the Beach Haven Marae proposal
- Protect our heritage and keep developers within zoning rules
- Listen to you and keep you informed

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
