New Road Safety Projects

Safety first! The Kaipatiki Local Board has allocated funding to the following projects:
* "SLOW" markings at 14 pedestrian crossings outside local schools! (see list below)
* Upgrade of the dangerous Coronation Rd/Archers Rd intersection!
* Upgrade of the Kauri Park School crossing on Rangatria Rd!
* Safety improvements around the pony club on Eskdale Road!

The pedestrian crossings we've requested to receive "SLOW" markings are the following (we didn't include any with traffic lights or already scheduled to receive an upgrade):
* Bayview Primary - pedestrian crossing outside 65 Bayiew Road
* Beach Haven School - pedestrian crossing outside 41a Tramway Road
* Beach Haven School - pedestrian crossing on Rangatira Road
* Birkdale Intermediate School - pedestrian crossing outside 153 Birkdale Road
* Birkdale North School - pedestrian crossing outside 215 Birkdale Road
* Birkdale Primary School - pedestrian crossing outside 120 Birkdale Road
* Birkdale Primary School - pedestrian crossing outside 11 Salisbury Road
* Birkenhead School - pedestrian crossing outside 84 Mokoia Road
* Chelsea School - pedestrian crossing outside 51 Onetaunga Road
* Chelsea School - pedestrian crossing outside 125 Chelsea View Drive
* Northcote Intermediate School - pedestrian crossing outside 188 Lake Road
* Northcote Intermediate School - pedestrian crossing outside Greenslade Reserve, Lake Road
* Target Road School - pedestrian crossing outside 97 Target Road
* Windy Ridge School - pedestrian crossing outside 59 Seaview Road.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
