Local Body Elections! Vote now please everyone!
Message from Helen Clark. She gave me approval to reproduce it here.
It’s #timetovote ! The decisions our elected local government representatives make are important. In #newzealand 🇳🇿, we elect our mayors, councillors, and district health board, community board, and licensing trust members every three years.
If you are on the electoral roll, you will have received your voting 🗳 papers already: make sure you fill them in and post them back NOW - they need to be with the returning officers for the election no later than midday on Saturday 12 October.
If you are not enrolled, you can enrol online on the New Zealand Electoral Commission website; if you do that before October 11 you can still vote in these elections.
If you are enrolled but not currently in #NZ, you can get your voting papers posted to you by contacting the electoral officer for your area. All details are on the above mentioned website. You will need to act quickly now if you are to receive them and send them back in time.
I filled my papers in over breakfast in #connecticut 🇺🇸 this morning and posted them back! Don’t forget to post yours!
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
