More Shadesails Coming!
The Kaipatiki Local Board has increased the budget to continue our programme of installing shadesails over playgrounds! 🌞
We've earmarked the following priority playgrounds to receive full-coverage shade over the next 12 months:
* Birkenhead War Memorial Park, Birkenhead
* Monarch Park, Hillcrest
* Rewi Alley Reserve, Totara Vale
Plus Shepherds Park, Beach Haven, is already underway!
And we'll continue to add shade where we can as we upgrade other playgrounds (more on that later).
Shadesails are so important as they both protect children from the sun, and protect the play equipment from getting scorching hot.
Supported and funded by the Kaipatiki Local Board, Danielle Grant, Paula Gillon, Anne-Elise Smithson, Adrian Tyler, John Gillon.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
