How will the new pay-to-drive plan work on Muriwai Beach?

Melanie Earley Reporter from Western Leader

Kia ora neighbours, drivers on Auckland’s Muriwai Beach will have to pay a fee and a gate will be installed after a vote by Auckland Council.

A gate will be installed at the Coast Rd entrance to the beach and drivers will need to have applied and paid for a permit to get through the gate.

The final fee is yet to be confirmed, but $200 for an annual permit is the amount talked about so far.

How do you feel about this new plan?

Suspicious Guy

Jan from Te Atatu South

Keep an eye on this guy, pretended to read the water meter, then wandered up the drive crowbar in hand when I asked what he wanted he said power and is there a dog.We have smart meters. He opened my neighbours gate (we are 3 units) and went in the back of her place with his crowbar. My son went round there and he took off. Police informed.
