What a Disaster with AMI Insurance breakdown service!

Keith from Avondale

Yesterday I accidentally put in the incorrect fuel Petrol instead of Diesel at the Gull station on Rosebank Road into my truck. Luckily I had filled only 8 liters of Petrol when I realized this blunder!, did not start my vehicle or my fuel pump and engine seals would be ruined. I immediately called up AMI breakdown services for assistance, for which I am a member, and they told me that they could not help as I had used all my five call outs for the year, the last call out was three months ago?? and my year ends July 31st so until my renewal date of July 31st 2017 I could not get any breakdown assistance!. I asked as to why I was not informed about this earlier, so that I could make alternative arrangements if I could not get another plan from AMI they said that their system is not equipped to do so and that they do not have the facility for me to buy another plan when my five call outs have run out for the year! Very nice thank you AMI for being a loyal customer for years!.

I requested AMI to renew my membership for another term so that I could get assistance, But they said NO, they could not do so. It took me one hour talking and negotiating for help with and then I asked to be transferred to their manager who called me back in five minutes, in that time I called a two truck who for 60$ towed me my place where a mechanic friend came by, drained my fuel tank by undoing the plug at the bottom, flushing my tank with diesel and Walla! my truck was good as gold.

The Manager from AMI who came back to me said that they could action a claim since I had insurance with them and that I would have to pay the access of 300$ I said thank you very much. I have sorted this out and that I will look out for a break down service today, as AMI with whom I have all my insurances with is not able to provide cover and has left me in the lurch by not advising me of this earlier.

I suggest that all those who have a breakdown service agreement to check as to whether they are entitled to any call outs before they are stranded like I was. AMI was supposed to forward my feedback to their management to find a solution! God Knows! It would also pay to have telephone numbers of Tow Truck operators in your area who provide and excellent service and they come to your help in a matter of minutes and are reasonably priced.

I would like to hear if any of you have had such an experience with your breakdown service provider and how were you treated. Thank You.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
