Poll: Do you want to see more car parks at the Albany and Constellation park and rides?

Caroline Williams Reporter from North Shore Times

Transport authorities hope Auckland's fast-filling park and ride facilities will become more like “kiss and rides”, where partners drop their spouses off and seal it with a kiss, rather than needing to park.

Transport Minister Phil Twyford made the comment when asked if there were enough car parks at the Albany park and ride to cope with increased patronage as a result of the northern busway extension, due to be completed about 2022.

“If you rely solely on park and rides, then you just actually increase congestion around the stations. Ultimately, in some stations you’ll see ‘kiss and rides’, where spouses will drop their partner off at drop off zones.”

Income Relief for those who lost a j.o.b. due to COVID-19 lockdowns

Susanna Kruger from Susanna Kruger - TEA Party Candidate for East Coast Bays

TEA Party will use an ‘incentive’ for the enrolled unemployed to safely return to the workforce or set up micro-businesses that could eventually take them off social welfare, increasing the cap (currently $80 per week) for additional income on top of the benefit. As many more has landed and will be landing on social welfare, we need a social enterprising solution to restoring the economy from the grassroots up. Merely boosting corporate workforce restoration is not going to help those who were otherwise self-employed (j.o.b.) or small business owners. A new category, micro-business development, is being born. Supporting micro-businesses will also help stay-at-home parents to put food on the table. COVID-19 has not only changed the way we do physical interaction but has to change the way we deal with poverty; from a hand-outs to a hand-ups approach. From my experience, many years ago when I was in the gutter for a short time, I have learned that WINZ and Charities were at best a refuge, at worst a trap.
