Rosedale Reserve - Emeral Way

Nicholas Mayne - Member of Upper Harbour Local Board

You may have noticed survey pegs recently in Rosedale Reserve off Emerald Way. These are part of the planning for the planting mitigation required by the resource consent to build the new Harbour Hockey Stadium. This activity has NOT, nor has it ever, been approved by the Local Board for this area! It should never have been part of the resource consent that Harbour Hockey and their NZTA benefactors applied for, as it is outside the area leased to Harbour Hockey. The Local Board has previously advised Council Officers involved in the Hockey Project that we did not support planting here because it impacted both informal and planned formal walking tracks. We are currently requesting an explanation as to why this surveying has proceeded.

Note that while the decision to locate the new Harbour Hockey stadium was a divisive one; this is a separate issue. To the best of my knowledge no one on the Local Board would seek to review that decision at this stage of construction. However we do want to work with Harbour Hockey and the NCI project to find a more suitable place in Rosedale Reserve to meet the requirements of their resource consent.
