Dear Local Residents' Associations and Community Groups in CHCH,
I would like to invite you to 2 local community meetings coming up in April and May.
Firstly, I am pleased to invite you to a 'SCRAM' (South Chch Residents Association meet up) event on Thursday, 11th April at the Beckenham Service Centre Boardroom from 10 am to 12 pm.
During this first event, we will have the opportunity to suggest any topics that concern your group as a whole for an open discussion. (This event has conveniently been scheduled after two other community-based meetings, including one with Mayor Phil Mauger and the Waitaha Community Led Development.)

We hope this SCRAM event will be beneficial for the Long-Term Plan consultation processes for CCC and ECAN and generally help our community groups to stay better connected, especially if required for emergency preparedness purposes.
Secondly, SCERT (Somerfield Community Emergency Response Team) have organised a meeting in May, we would also like to invite you or your community group to our SCERT public information event, to be held on Thursday, 30th May, from 7-9 pm.
SCERT welcomes any residents or new groups in any area to join us for this also, so you may independently promote your community group in St Mark's Hall, 5 Somerfield Street.
Please refer to the posters attached for more information on either event.

If you would like to attend or share either /any of these events with other local community groups, please message me or join our event page(s).

Best regards,
Julie Tobbell.
Somerfield Residents Association Chairperson.

Free ice blocks, treats, music and spot prizes will be at Somerfield Park.
Due to constraints by CCC & consent needed for serving food or having any infrastructure (ie: bouncy castle/ tents) etc at a public park - we have elected to encourage a simpler version for a community event! Hopefully, if this works - more similar & informal events may be created in future!?!

Feel welcome to share this event on to others.

Our Somerfield community and so many residents /families appear to be fabulous supporters of celebrating this annual Halloween event!!
We look forward to another great night at Somerfield Community Centre and seeing many families Trick or Treating safely for another year.
However this year we need to be more vigilant and even safer with hand santising and hygiene in handling wrapped lollies (preferably).

If you are feeling well, please feel welcome to join us at this event but be sure to also scan the QR code or manually sign in at the Somerfield Community Centre.

We don't want to spread any virus while having a fun community night - we all deserve!

Thanks to Tash Higginson who has organised volunteers from the South West Youth Community (SYC) to assist with face painting, craftmaking, popcorn, games and dancing tomorrow night.

Thanks to local resident Kirsten for enabling us to borrow your awesome Halloween decorations once again!!

We will also be taking some amazing Halloween photos of everyone dressed up in our photo booth, and posting them on our SRA FB page!

Feel welcome to share any of your own photos also!

More details & Halloween Friendly address list will be available via our SRA FB event page:
