New Month. New Mayhem. MEGA #5 Is Here
Eastbourne’s only news source that dares to cover politics and possum-related cinema.
The Highlights:
CAPTAIN COOKER DYNASTY EXPANDS
A Roman pig with a tax rebellion problem enters the family tree — bacon meets togas.
BISHOP VS THE BACKLASH
Chris Bishop muttered into his beer and accidentally started a national debate.
CHEF GORDON RAMSWINE: Honeycomb Havoc
It’s lavender ice cream with crunch, citrus, and chaos — no pigs, just pride.
FENCED IN & PRICED OUT
Wellington builds an $11m harbour cage — Eastbourne, you’re probably next.
TRADIE RELIABILITY INDEX
Painters are flaky, electricians are clingy, and plumbers still ghost you.
PHANTOM OF PETONE
Hutt City’s heritage map puts a pā underwater — Atlantis, but with consent forms.
DELIVER-HAMS PREMIERES
A pig, a canoe, and a possum walk into a film pitch — and somehow it got made.
EASTBOURNE UNPLUGGED
No auto-tune, no shame, just local bays battling it out for musical chaos.
BOURNE GAMES
Every Tuesday, Eastbourne Bowling Club turns into your winter games den — with pool, darts, cards, bowls, and a buzzing bar.
BARRY CAM™
Hutt’s new surveillance system doubles as a family drama in 1080p.
MILK ECONOMICS
Our milk costs more than Milan’s — even the cows are confused.
WHO’S REALLY RUNNING THIS TOWN?
The election's coming, and the candidates are weird, wonderful, or both.
POLLS ARE USELESS (AND WE LOVE THEM)
The numbers mean nothing, but let’s pretend they do — it’s tradition.
JOIN THE MEGA-VERSE
No fees, no filters, barely any dignity — join us before the next scandal drops.
It’s live. It’s local. It’s a little feral.
Full chaos now at www.mega.kiwi.nz...

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
Today’s Mind-Bender is the Last of the Year! Can You Guess It Before Everyone Else? 🌟🎁🌲
I dance in the sky with green and gold, a spectacle few are lucky to behold; I’m best seen in the south, a celestial sight—what am I, lighting up the New Zealand night?

Poll: Would you participate in local initiatives aimed at stopping plastic from reaching our oceans?
Volunteers will be scouring the foreshore, riverbanks, and islands for rubbish on Saturday the 13th as part of the Clean Up the Hutt event.
This initiative helps stop plastic from reaching our oceans and makes our waterways cleaner and safer for everyone.
We want to know: Should this be rolled out across all coastal cities in Aotearoa? And more importantly… would you get involved? 💚
