New Zealand's first floating burger bar to open in the mountains on Lake Dunstan Trail

New Zealand's first floating burger joint will open this week in a jaw-dropping location: on a lake among the mountains.

This remarkable new eatery and tourist attraction has its roots in the country's first Covid-19 lockdown back in 2020.

Richard and Jolanda Foale operated a popular helicopter company in Cromwell, which took predominantly foreign tourists for a closer look at some of our most spectacular peaks. When the borders closed, the future of their business looked grim.

During those long uncertain weeks in lockdown, the pair watched the hit TV series Undercover Billionaire. One particular episode featured a challenge where the boss headed to a new town and had just 90 days to start a food brand.
