Totara Puku Kindergarten is enrolling now!
Kia ora!
As many of our older children have now moved on to school, we are looking for new friends to join us at kindergarten!
We have some spaces available right away or you can hop on our waitlist if you or your tamariki need more time!
A few things you should know:
👉 We take children from age 0 - 6 yrs
👉 We offer 20 hours free ECE to all children who attend, even babies!
👉 All of our teachers are fully qualified ECE teachers
👉 Our teachers will support with the transition to school
👉 We follow a bicultural curriculum
👉 Play based learning is the way to go at Totara Puku Kindergarten!
*If your child goes on to attend Totara Puku Kindergarten, there is no expectation or requirement that they attend Whanganui East School. While the kindergarten is located within the school grounds and we have a great relationship with our school friends, the school and kindergarten operate separately.
Please feel free to pop in and visit us, we'd love to see you!

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
