Schools and kōhanga reo in Southland gathered to plant the trees on the Hokonui Rūnanga site in remembrance of Rewi Anglem, who had worked in conservation all his life, up until he died last year.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
