'Obscenely bright and intrusive' Christchurch streetlights dimmed

Jake Kenny Reporter from Community News

Gary Bridgman’s Christchurch home is free from the spotlight after almost two months of being lit up like a sports stadium.

The Fendalton resident first raised concerns with the Christchurch City Council over “obnoxiously bright” new LED streetlights blanketing his property at the start of September – the day after they were installed.

About four weeks went by and a solution didn’t come, prompting Bridgman to contact Stuff.

A further two weeks passed and more follow-ups were made before the lights were eventually dimmed on October 6.

Baby knitting

Lesley from Bishopdale

At night while watching TV I knit baby cardys, bootees, beanies and have a couple of bags that I would like to donate to a worthy cause. It is all wool and would range from newborn to about 6mths old.
Would anyone have any suggestions for a place that would appreciate it.
