How do you capture your audience?
One of the main things we do as Toastmasters is prepare speeches. Among other things, we are encouraged to "write for the ear" - some phrases work better on paper that they do when spoken.
If you'd like to write better "for the ear", here are some tips from the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
