How do you feel about a mayor being elected unopposed?

Nicola Brennan-Tupara Reporter from South Waikato News

Hi neighbours,
Current South Waikato District mayor Jenny Shattock has been re-elected as mayor unopposed.
When the deadline for nominations passed at midday on Friday hers was only one nomination for Mayor. Tīrau Ward Councillor candidate Peter Schulte was also re-elected unopposed.
So how do you feel about a mayor/councillor being elected unopposed?
Would you prefer to have a choice on who to vote for?
And what do you think this says about people's opinions on local democracy?
Let us know in the comments below.
