Heavy snow watch and strong wind warning
MetService has issued a heavy snow watch and strong wind warning for Southern parts of Central Otago.
Valid: 9 hours from 2:00pm to 11:00pm Friday.
Forecast: Snow is expected above 500 metres, with some heavy falls. Accumulations may approach Warning amounts above 700 metres. Heavy rain is expected below the snow level, and rainfall amounts may also approach Warning criteria.
A Strong Wind Warning for severe gale southwesterlies is also in effect for this area, and these winds could cause snow drifts.
