Painting tips - dirty ceilings

Adam from Adam's Painting

Oh those pesky flies! At Adams Painting, we often get asked "can you just paint straight over fly droppings?" Well we could if we wanted a lot of unhappy customers! But no, fly droppings are very acidic and will very quickly come through as stain marks in the new paint! So, the process for a mildly spotted ceiling is: clean off the worst of it with sugar soap, sand, dust off, then spot prime any remaining spots (some are almost impossible to clean off flat ceiling paint) with Zinsser Cover Stain (available in a spray can), then apply the ceiling paint. If the spotting is really bad, the best approach is as above for prep, but followed by a full coat of pigmented sealer such as Resene Sureseal, or Zinsser Cover Stain, followed by your preferred ceiling paint. Need your place painted? Check out Adams Painting in the business section or contact me on 0220927334

Did you submit on the city council's long-term plan?

The Team Reporter from Hamilton Press

Hamiltonians have spoken out on the council’s budget plans with the city’s massive proposed rates hike a lightning rod for residents already struggling with rising costs.

With more than 3000 submissions landing on the Hamilton City Council’s Draft Long Term Plan the hot topic is unsurprisingly the proposed 19.9% rise, which itself lands in a cost of living crisis and limping economy.

Have you heard about this Hamilton petition?

The Team Reporter from Hamilton Press

A group of Hamilton business owners have started a petition to stop the council from hiking up rates and passing the cost of what they say are unpopular projects on to residents.

It frustrates longtime residents Tom Andrews, a former roading engineer who owns Classics Museum and has property interests and Jo Reeder, to see Hamiltonians facing large bills.
