Lower Hutt St James Cemetery/Library over Graves

Sandra from Normandale

Many years ago I discovered my Great x grandfather John Bell was buried 8 August 1855 in St James Lower Hutt along with his little grandaughter Jane Bell 20 November 1855.
I went to the church only to find that John Bell/baby Jane were NOT on their lists. {fixed]
More research, moving of the church at least 4 times, and as time went by, tarsealed car parking and buildings over graves.
All my research was forwarded to the church office. Now 30 years later I find the whole item has resurfaced.
More of this information arose and is in my book Melling AKA Stillingfleet.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!

Speed limits around NaeNae

Susan from Naenae

Hi Neighbors, Just a heads up, I have just received a $170 fine for driving at 50km on Rata Street Naenae on a SUNDAY Morning. I wrote to NZTA pointing out and sending in a photo of sign stating that it was 30km on school days between those hours, but they said that the whole of Rata Street and some surrounding streets are 30km 24/7 and have been for over a year. Did I miss this been advised by council? Always good to be informed. Merry Christmas to all
