Kids and cellphones
Went the local park at aotea lagoon today.
Had a fantastic time on the various playthings.
My niece enjoyed the swing set and Mr whippet.
However things have changed in the 15 yrs since I was taking my own kids to the park.
Today I saw a young boy asking his father to put him on the same swing as my niece, he wanted to go higher. Dad was sadly too busy emailing or something to even notice. My niece was swinginging, laughing and having a great time, this boy was pleading with a dad who was too caught up in his own affairs to listen.
From a parent who often failed, I hope others read this and make the effort to concentrate on your bundles of joy. - once they grow it is too late, live the special moments now, put away the phone.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
