Tararua Health and Wellbeing Group seeking members

Dale from MidCentral District Health Board

An area highlighted in the Tararua Health and Wellbeing Plan 2018 – 2023 was the need for better communication and connections between organisations involved in health and wellbeing in the Tararua District. As a result of this, a Health and Wellbeing Group for the Tararua District is being created.

The purpose of the group is to work together on a common agenda to address issues that are impacting the health and wellbeing of Tararua residents. The group will: monitor the progress of the Tararua Health and Wellbeing Plan; provide a community voice and feedback to MidCentral DHB, service providers and the Council regarding potential service developments, projects and initiatives, and advocate, where appropriate, for positive change in areas that have a fundamental impact on people’s health and wellbeing in the Tararua District.

The group will be made up of ten members and an independent chair. Applications are currently being sought for five places on the group. These members will be appointed to represent:

• Primary Health Care providers (eg Tararua Health Group, GP practices, pharmacists),
• Non-Government Organisations,
• the general community.

Other members of the group will be representatives from: Tararua District Council, MidCentral DHB, Rangitāne o Tamaki nui a Rua, Ngati Kahungunu ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua and Oranga Tamariki.

Applications open Monday 8 October 2018 and will run until Friday 26 October 2018. If you are interested in becoming involved please collect a form from a Tararua District Council Service Centre or email Angela Rainham at Planning4Health@midcentraldhb.govt.nz to be sent a link to an online application form.

For further information please contact Angela Rainham on (06) 350 8383
