Curtain Upgrade at The Plaza
The new curtains are in at The Plaza Putaruru and get their first use at today's speech presentation for Te Wharekura o Te Kaokaoroa o Patetere. Our sincere thanks to the South Waikato Arts Trust (who funded the wing and side curtains) the South Waikato District Council (who funded the stage curtain), Stage Mechanics (who manufactured and installed the curtains) and Entra Scaffolding (who assisted us with a hefty discount and the very difficult task of accessing some areas we couldn't get to with the scissor lift). The curtains are shiny and luscious - it's like a warming hug walking into the theatre! Keep an eye out for updates of future work at the Plaza Putaruru - there's plenty more to come!
Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
