Excess fruit and vegetables - Community Fruit Harvesting
Have you noticed all the feijoas, apples and other fruits lying on the ground in your neighbourhood? I want to cry when I see Granny Smiths lying all around the drive of a neighbour. Maybe you have excess chokos, silverbeet, pumpkins? You may not like the produce yourself but there is a Community Group which will come and pick any surplus you have and distribute it to community groups and families. Maybe you have spare glass jars for the group to create all sorts of preserves as well.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
