MetService forecaster Brian Mercer said rain would develop on Monday morning, with heavy falls in some places.
But the worst part of the storm would be the wind - with southeast gales expected to set in around 3pm on Monday afternoon, changing to gale southwesterlies on Monday evening.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
