Dry trees

Communications team from Hastings District Council

Hi all - there has been some concern expressed er the browning of the young oak trees along Omahu Rd. Our tree team is keeping an eye on them and they get watered at least once a week. The team tells me that dry weather, wind and gravelly soils does mean that it takes a bit longer for trees to 'hit their straps' in that area. They also tell us that the browning does not necessarily mean they are dying - just that they are dropping their leaves so they can conserve moisture. We do have a lovely lady, Brenda, sho says she has been taking them some extra water. That's awesome! Thank you for helping care for the trees. PS more mulch is being added asap.
