Is this the type of public health system we want? It's time for a change.

Michelle from Pahurehure

Hi Everyone, Kia ora koutou,

Last week my partner's mum broke her hip and needed hospital care. Due to her age and health the doctors decided not to operate but to let nature do her thing. On Tuesday, after a pain-filled day on Monday wherein my partner and I had to go into the hospital twice to make sure she was getting appropriate medication, she was discharged to her rest home with no care plan. The hospital notified us and Selwyn Oaks, her rest home, after she was discharged and on her way in the ambulance!!!! I'm totally astounded.
I'm sure that many of you out there have had a similar experience so please PLEASE do we really want a continuation of this mediocre quality service that has been rife under the present government? Our elderly, especially, do not deserve to be treated in this way. They have paid their taxes for years and years.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone at Selwyn Oaks for the way in which the situation was handled and the care that our mum has received on her return.
