Is it fair to pay for landline calls to Auckland

Reporter Rodney Times

Auckland's free-calling area stops north of Muriwai Beach, Hobsonville and Albany.

This saw around 90,000 Hibiscus and Bays residents and around 55,000 Rodney residents reliant on toll calls to ring outside their area.

But around 70 per cent of people now have smart phone access.

Older people are most likely to only take the landline option. Others will often take the landline option on a broadband package for computers or tablets, but only so older relatives can still reach call, or as an emergency option.

Free call apps have also become popular.

Do you think it's fair to have to pay for phone calls to Auckland numbers?

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
