Community Crochet Shade Sail
Hi everyone, about a month ago about 40 crocheters met on Facebook and began crocheting 210 squares to make a shade sail. Now we are halfway through and Hamilton City Council are supporting the project by suspending it in the trees beside the playground at the lake in October. Donaghys have donated the twine we are using. We hope you will all be able to enjoy it over the summer.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
