WARNING: DO NOT SHOP AT 'FOOD FOR LESS', 64 ATKINSON AVE, OTAHUHU

Teresa from Otahuhu

Today I did my shopping at Food for Less in Atkinson Ave, Otahuhu then popped across the road for less than 5 minutes, only to come back and see my car clamped. I called the number on the card and the guy was extremely aggressive telling me I must pay cash and that he was calling a tow truck. I didn't understand why it was clamped as I always make sure I don't park in handicapped parks etc, but it turns out on the 60min carpark signs it is in extremely tiny writing that you cannot leave the car park. While I was waiting for the guy to arrive several people came up to me and said they had been in the same situation at that carpark and that they don't shop there anymore. I would contest it, but turns out I unknowing broke the rule on their tiny sign. To clamp someone for 5 minutes is insane and to have it in tiny writing feels like entrapment. I asked the guy for id and a receipt and took a photo. He said that it is the shop that hires the clamping service and they use cameras to pick out anyone who leaves even just for a minute.
So my advice is to not shop there, because you are risking a $200 fine that you probably don't even know about.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
