Puhoi Fire Station needs your help

Rhonwyn Newson Reporter from Rodney Times

Hi Neighbours,
The Fire Service is there for you when you need them and now they are calling on your generosity to help.

The Puhoi Volunteer Rural Fire Force has spent the last decade operating out of a temporary lean-to station.

Constructed out of two shipping containers and a roof, the DIY station is home to the fifth busiest rural brigade in the country.

Assisting at around 100 callouts annually, the 14-strong brigade has outgrown its dusty abode and is very close to reaching its fundraising target for a brand new station.

But it's not there yet. Can you help? Go to givealittle.co.nz...

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
