My 2022 Prospa Local Business Hero nomination
NZ Bulbs, also known as Aorangi Bulbs and Aorangi Nurseries. This business run by Paul and Len Hoek has had a very positive impact on both staff and customers during the Covid lock downs. With operations in effect 14hrs a day, 7 days a week, it was relatively easy to keep essential staff in employment. Their dedicated staff have allowed Aorangi Nurseries to continue trading, both commercially and to the general public and hit the ground running when lock downs were lifted. During the extended Auckland lock downs, their direct to consumer flower sales brought a touch of colour and break from the monotony to many people. It is with pride that I nominate Aorangi Nurseries for this award.
