My Resene Colour Your Community nomination

maree from Thames

I am nominating a place that I have been to community meetings in and while the people that I meet there are total inspiring the place isn't!
The Centre is a place of contribution and connection within Thames and district and has been providing a variety of services since 2012.
The Thames Community Centre provides an affordable space for community organisations doing great things to meet, network and support the community development that comes from that.

It provides a place to support young people to get their driver’s licenses, to be safer drivers, to avoid fines and justice system and become more job ready.

The Community Centre is used to give people an opportunity to volunteer and to give back to the community whilst building self-realisation, personal networks, skills and experience and by introducing community organisations to new volunteers.
It also provides a space for the public to access computer time providing young drivers, volunteers and other centre users free and safe internet usage to support their needs.

The Community Centre provides support for community initiatives and small groups by providing practical administration and organisational support alongside fundraising expertise that has seen partnerships and collaborative action established.
All off this is done in very dull and unispiring surroundings and I would love to see the place more vibrant, welcoming and inspiring. I think colour can not only change how you feel, but how you think and so I would love to see the physical space of the Community Centre reflecting the great people and work that they support. It would certainly put a smile on my face to turn up to a place that felt like a beautiful space to be in and I am sure it would make a huge different to all the young and not so young people that regularly meet there.
