Sea Level Rise Projections Too Low
Official sea level rise guidance just published in California demonstrates that NZ’s Dec 2017 Guidance on Coastal Hazards is out of date and grossly underestimates sea level rise projections. Under similar “medium” scenarios for 2100, the California Guidance recommends consideration of 2.1 m of sea level rise but the NZ Guidance just 0.8 m. The NZ Guidance must be urgently reviewed to take account of the latest science.
