The century old settlement at the end of an hour long journey north of Thames on the Coromandel peninsula, population: 1600, has been cut off too many times this winter. In summer, half a million people will roar through the region.
Campaigning for the 2017 General Election generates heat, otherwise it's overcast, there's a chop on the harbour, restaurants are closed, motel vacancy signs are up.
