The tail of tropical cyclone Fehi is due to hit just weeks after a similar event flooded homes, farmland and destroyed roads on January 5. Thames-Coromandel Civil Defence Controller Garry Towler said the tail of the cyclone was due to hit the West Coast of the South Island, but it was moving very quickly and would bring a "short, sharp sting" to the Coromandel Peninsula.

Te Mata Bay residents Jannine and Ray Kelly lost their dog Nugget after going for a swim at the beach. At least three dogs have died recently and others have become ill after walking on Thames Coast beaches. Have you had any problems?
