She is a lovely gentle cat but would prefer to go to a calm home without other pets as she was shy (she was OK with two other cats and chooks so one other is fine) but recently, she has become a lot more friendly and she will make great company for someone who'll love her. We do not want to have to put her down but if a home cannot be found, that's her future. Do you know anyone who would like her, please? SPCA and Cat rescue say they don't want her. She is not the sort that gets under your feet so would suit an older person! She'll make a great companion. The photo shows her caught unawares....she's not wild! "We have a lovely young couple across the road from us at number 13, Glenaven Drive, called Kirsty and Jeremy. We have recently moved to Motueka and they have been very helpful and friendly right from the start. During Lockdown they did shopping for us and let us have soil from their excavations for our garden improvements. Later on, they have given us lemons, gave spare concrete when they had some delivered for themselves and watered our plants when we were able to go away and visit our new grandchild. They are gems and have made us really happy that we've chosen Motueka as our home."

Most reservoir … View moreWe need everyone to try to reduce their water use by 50% this week so we can increase our stocks of clean drinking water. 💧
Two of our three water treatment plants are now operating at normal capacity but we still need time to increase stocks of clean water stored in reservoirs. Most reservoir levels dropped to 10-20% on the weekend when water treatment plants broke down and could not re-stock them.
Key reservoir levels as at 7:00am today:
Fairway Drive 33%
Kamo 39%
Onerahi 37%
Anzac 25%
Reservoir levels vary during a normal day and are constantly re-stocked by water treatment plants. We need to get them to around 80% full to be safe against another serious breakdown.

Plucked from obscurity and given the breath of life, since the turn of the century, Matariki has blossomed into an inclusive, popular event.
Tied to the rising of Matariki, the Pleiades star cluster, in the night sky, the festival marks the start of te Mātahi o te tau, the new year.
Once a casualty of colonisation, Matariki’s comeback has fostered greater use of te reo Māori, and recognition for Māori customary practices.

The rain has caused significant slips and flooding, with some people needing help from emergency services to evacuate their homes, with Fire and Emergency NZ responding to more than 200 weather-related overnight.
The NZTA has advised of a number of state highway closures and Civil Defence Northland has strongly recommended residents avoid unessential travel.
Whangārei residents have been asked to conserve water for drinking and emergency use only due to a burst water main, while treatment plants are struggling to cope with the "intense" rainfall.
