Whangarei could have an MP soon - part two
A bit over a month ago Tel Hudson published a post Whangarei could have an MP soon, in which we were discussing the possibility that our electorate might get two MPs in Parliament, in case Labour's candidate Dr Emily Henderson won the seat (National's Dr Shane Reti was always in because of his high rank on the party list).
This has now become a reality, with Emily winning the seat by a margin of 431 votes after special votes.
Northland has also changed colours, with Labour's Willow-Jean Prime winning the seat by an even narrower margin of 163 votes. Unfortunately National's Matt King is too far down on the party list to stay on as MP. It would have been great to have four MP's in Parliament representing all of Northland.
Congratulations to both winning candidates. Isn't it great to live in a country where every vote counts?

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
