The film night for Thursday 4th September for WFS will be in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre at Forum North, 7 Rust Ave Whangarei.
At 6pm, WFS will screen the classic French comedy, Riviera Revenge.
Our 8pm screening is the documentary Mozart's Sister which explores the dazzling talent and career of Maria-Anna Mozart, the older sister of Wolfgang.

Ex French general François and his wife, Annie have been married for five decades and are enjoying all the perks of retirement.

Volunteering Northland celebrates the volunteer community in Te Tai Tokerau by hosting a day focused on volunteering, entertainment and making connections with local organisations doing amazing work in our community.
The Volunteer Fair is a free, family-friendly event that includes food, entertainment, and micro-volunteering opportunities. By bringing together volunteers and organisations from all backgrounds, we want to create a space where everyone can find a cause they believe in and feel a sense of belonging in their community.

Northland Regional Council and Whangarei District Council are now collaborating on the Whangārei Urban Flood Strategy to answer those questions. The strategy will guide investment in stormwater and flood protection infrastructure so the city is better prepared for current and future flooding challenges.
The project will include a year-long technical assessment that will inform funding decisions for the 2027 Long Term Plan for both Councils.

We got talking about the power of nature — green spaces like parks, bush walks, or even just sitting under a tree, and blue spaces like the ocean, lakes, or rivers. Research agrees: being in nature really does help calm the mind. We’re lucky here in Aotearoa to have such beautiful spots right on our doorstep!
But sometimes, getting out for a walk or escaping to the beach isn’t an option. So we’re curious...

The film night for TUESDAY (NOT Thursday) 26th August for WFS will be in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre at Forum North, 7 Rust Ave Whangarei.
At 6pm, WFS will screen the documentary Mozart's Sister which explores the dazzling talent and career of Maria-Anna Mozart, the older sister of Wolfgang.
Our 8pm screening is Lee, starring Kate Winslet, the fascinating portrait of the great American war correspondant and photographer, Lee Miller.

But at the height of her career, Maria-Anna was made to retire as it was considered unseemly at the time for adult females to perform publicly.

Whangārei Central Library will be closed on Saturday 23 August 2025, while the floors are prepared for laying new laminate flooring in the café and magazines area.
The library will reopen on Sunday 24 August.
