Kensington - Pataka Kai
Just a quick note to let our community know about our Pataka Kai. This is placed outside of our office (Cnr Kensington Ave & Davies Street) on weekdays and it follows the Pataka concept of "Take what you need, Leave what you can". We have had many friends and neighbours donate goods or overflow from their gardens. Right now there is a lot of citrus about so rather than dropping to the ground and rotting we invite you to drop off. We may also look to set a day when we can call in and collect for those less mobile. If you have questions let us know. For more information on the movement please visit www.patakai.co.nz... Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
