The film night for Thursday 3rd July for WFS will be in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre at Forum North, 7 Rust Ave Whangarei.

At 6pm, WFS will screen Tina, a much-loved New Zealand film about a woman's story of healing after a great loss.

Our 8:15pm screening is Tarrac, an uplifting Irish drama about family, community and open ocean rowing.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the run time of the 6pm film, our second screening will be 15 minutes later than usual at 8:15pm.

TINA
New Zealand, 2024, Drama, 115 mins, Rated M (strong language)
Cast: Anapela Polataivao, Nicole Whippy Antonia Robinson, Beulah Koale. Director: Miki Magasiva

Mareta is lost in a deep despair after her teenage daughter, Lanita is killed in the Christchurch earthquakes. To get herself back into the world again and get some focus, she takes a job as a substitute teacher at an elite private school.

But on her first day, Mareta is surprised to find so many of the students crying out for guidance, inspiration and love.

Wanting to empower her young students, Mareta utilises her Samoan culture to start a choir and, as she brings them together as a group, Mareta rediscovers her passion for both teaching and life.

"Tina is a film for the whole family and one just like mother used to make." - RNZ
