Whangārei Urban Flood Strategy: A collaboration with Northland Regional Council
How can we avoid flooding in urban Whangārei, and minimise impact when the big rains come? ⛈️⛈️
Northland Regional Council and Whangarei District Council are now collaborating on the Whangārei Urban Flood Strategy to answer those questions. The strategy will guide investment in stormwater and flood protection infrastructure so the city is better prepared for current and future flooding challenges.
The project will include a year-long technical assessment that will inform funding decisions for the 2027 Long Term Plan for both Councils.
